About Will Wick

“My work is about redefining design while holding onto threads from the past.” – Will Wick

“A healthy sense of irreverence is key to my design approach. ” – Will Wick

Storied and modern.

Designer Will Wick and his eponymous design house are known for work that is at once bold and decorative, yet classic, unexpected and layered with narrative. With a multi-disciplinary portfolio of residential, commercial and hospitality interior design projects as well as lifestyle product and furniture collections, the luxury brand works fluidly to juxtapose a blend of storied elements with modern context that have come to define the signature Will Wick style.

From distinguished private residences to iconoclastic tasting rooms, Wick’s design projects inspire a level of sophistication and individuality that belie constant curiosity— an inspirational byproduct of Wick’s upbringing and his infinite travels. His work is regularly featured in esteemed design publications including Architectural Digest, Luxe., House Beautiful, C Magazine, Elle Décor and CA Home + Design.

Growing up surrounded by a family of stylish women, Wick was introduced to various art forms at a very young age. He remembers the indelible impression paging through his sisters’ glossy magazines made and his designs are often directly influenced in some measure by the sartorial: the color story, the bespoke tailoring, the textures.

This early exposure to the highly creative served to inform Wick’s pathway to design and architecture and he became inspired by the Brazilian modernist styles of Oscar Niemayer, the timeless designs of Italian Giò Ponti and the classic, bold works of Francis Elkins. Although he didn’t initially pursue a career in the field, Wick graduated with a degree in environmental design. He went on to work for several notable designers in San Francisco before founding his own design house in 2000.

Will is widely recognized for his all-encompassing approach to the craft, conceiving
custom one of a kind pieces and layered spaces rooted in rich life experiences. Drawing from his frequent travels and the natural world, Will combines unexpected textures, colors, and materials with classic pieces and found objects to create immersive, eclectic environments. He currently resides in Sausalito, CA with his wife, fellow designer and travel partner Jen Kelly, and their four children: Miles, Sabine, Luisa and Isabela.

“In my travels, I come across objects that I can’t leave behind. Battersea is an homage to the past and a well-traveled life.” - Will Wick

In 2008, Will introduced another facet of his design business – Battersea. The retail showroom – named after a centuries old, now defunct power plant in South London – is situated in San Francisco. A haven for fellow designers and enthusiasts alike, Battersea serves as part art gallery, part showcase of found objects, curiosities and 20th Century decorative arts—unexpected pieces that Will unearths on his annual shopping trips across the globe. Battersea’s eclectic retail mix reflects his penchant for drawing from historical reference points and blending the past with the present.
